DOOM VFR is a general excellent interface of an already terrific game. There is, even though the controls are a bit awkward. The point is, while this game can be found on two different headsets (three if you count the SteamVR Beta on Steam allowing Oculus Rift users to perform with it), the definitive variant if the HTC Vive version.

I took the freedom of even trying it out to the PSVR for morbid curiosity and let me make something obvious, don’t, I repeat DO NOT purchase this game on the PlayStation VR. Sure, the PlayStation Aim Controller provides immersion but for those that don’t have yet, this game was not made in your mind. The controls do not include efficient turns and the camera that is PSVR, well you’re likely to be battling with it a good deal. Due to this temperament of this game, the tracking on the PlayStation camera cannot keep up. The button missions are not so precise, which will force you to want to split your TV.

Now you are going to say “well, I will just purchase a PS Aim controller” and figure that would suit the issue, right? Well isn’t 100% precise. I personally find unacceptable, because DOOM VFR‘s PSVR port premiered in some time where additional controller-action PSVR games such as Farpoint along with Resident Evil VII were released before it, and they got the controls right. Not to mention that the PSVR version (even on the PS4 Guru) suffers from framerate drops and visually it appears fuzzy. I am not expecting it to seem like it would on PC, but looking like its version that is typical would undoubtedly be better compared to its existing condition.

DOOM VFR is a general fantastic interface of an already great game. There is while the controls are a bit awkward. But, I don’t believe that the game has attained its whole potential, I think that when Bethesda allowed mods to the game, it’d raise the game’s lifespan long term, no doubt about that. However, I think that it would be far more enjoyable if there really were a first-party controller by HTC that was created for rapid games like DOOM VFR along with Raw Data as it would offer much more immersion and fun into HTC Vive shooting games. Still, if you have an HTC Vive DOOM VFR is really a game worth picking up — its just $29.99 on Steam and it’s a amazing game for anybody using the headset, especially if you recently acquired one and you’re looking for games to play with.
