The Scribblenauts series was originally created by programmer 5th Mobile and rose to fame on the Nintendo DS after the very first title released in 2009. The series lasted to find new entrances for the upcoming few decades, however there hasn’t really been a brand new Scribblenauts name since Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure in 2013, as developer 5th Cell ran into financial troubles after a Scribblenauts title was canceled.
Luckily, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment announced today the series will be restored with this year together with Scribblenauts Showdown. Produced by Shiver Entertainment, this name adds fresh versus minigames and a Showdown style and can be set to come out on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on March 9, 2018.
“Scribblenauts Showdown delivers creative fun and the humor that Scribblenauts fans adore with new societal components to challenge friends and family. Players of all skill levels will love testing their creativity from the fast paced, head-to-head party style gameplay.”
Scribblenauts Showdown will retain the series’ sandbox style, which allows up to two players solve puzzles across eight degrees with any object they can think of and summon. The game also keeps the series classic artwork design and will make it possible for players to customize how their character seems.
The game also has a Versus mode, which comprises over 25 two-player minigames. Every one of the minigames will also be available in single-player and can be placed to shuffle so players can have a constant stream of nonstop minigames to participate in if playing with friends.
The most prominent new feature of Scribblenauts Showdown is that the titular Showdown style, which will be a board game design mode that has players compete in many different different minigames. The 2 kinds of minigames highlighted alongside the game’therefore show are Wordy and Quick.
Wordy minigames require players to encircle their opponent by producing the best objects to trump whatever the other player is using; this can be mode highlighted in the reveal trailer. Meanwhile, Quick minigames have players vie to finish challenges as fast as they could with Scribblenauts Showdown’s large dictionary of words that are usable.
