Thirty years ago, the first Record of Lodoss War book by Ryo Mizuno, branded The Grey Witch, hit Japan by storm, bringing a concept of dream closer to the classic Dungeons & Dragons when compared with what the local crowd has been used to.
Following that, the franchise sparked several books, video games, a tabletop RPG, an OVA series that’s regarded as one the most relevant classics of their nineties, a TV series, manga, and more.
While keeping its status, the series kind of slipped unbeknownst to the centuries. Yet, now that this series is now currently celebrating its thirtieth’ anniversary Kadokawa is prepared to make it back.
We ll begin with that because we ’ re create a gaming website. A side-scrolling action game code called simply Record of Lodoss War is in development in Team Ladybug. While there’s not any release window announced, the plan is to get a launch on Steam. You can see a trailer.
Beyond movie games, a brand new novel by Ryo Mizuno will finally expand the Lodoss globe in the winter 2018, along with a new variant of the tabletop RPG will be released in Japan in the autumn. A box with an edition of this OVA series will also start in the nation on August 24th.
It’ll be certainly interesting to see if Record of Lodoss War will manage to catch the spotlight again before all this time. Another story by Ryo Mizuno, Record of Grancrest War, is presently being aired as a anime TV series and is getting a video game by Bandai Namco.
Yet, at least for me, it will capture the magic of the first Lodoss. I certainly hope to see this evolve to something larger in the future.
