Nicalis just released the complete form of the cinematic opening into the indie-crossover arcade brawler Blade Strangers, which you may observe below.
Set to a rockin’ standard pop anime monitor, the introduction cinematic investigates some of the characters both new and old. The game crosses titles from Studio Saizensen games (Code of Princess, Sayonara Umihara Kawase, etc.), Nicalis games (like Cave Story+), and some additional special guest characters, such as Gunvolt in Gunvolt, Isaac from the Binding of Isaac, along with Shovel Knight from…well, Shovel Knight. Turns out a lot of these titles aren’t too complicated to match their protagonists.
Thus Far, Blade Strangers is explained as such:
A malevolent force known only as Lina is information from a vast, interdimensional network of servers overseen by sentient computers known as “motes.” In desperation, the motes summon heroes from various parallel game worlds to face off against each other in one single combat. The tournament victor has the capacity to be awakened as the Blade Stranger–the savior who can vanquish Lina and shield the motes from further injury!
