Now ’s issue of Weekly Famitsu included the first reveal of a brand new JRPG from Compile Heart, Ryu Hoshi no Varuniiru, or Valneer of the Dragon Star.
The game is currently in development only for PS4 and will launch in Japan on October 11th. Development is already 70% complete.
The game has been created by the cream of this Compile Heart staff, and because this is a Compile Heart game, I’m certain you know exactly what to expect with now. Yet, I’ll go on and tell you anyhow. It’s about waifus.
The story is quite interesting: In the game’s world witches living in the forests have been hunted because the origin of the presence of dragons. The protagonist Zephy is a member of an order of knights hunting witches. During a mission, he’s mortally wounded by a huge dragon. The witch Minessa saves him by letting him drink her blood, and awakens him in the power of dragons. Because of that Zephy is hauled in a intricate web of plots involving the authorities, the orthodox knights he belongs tothe rogue organization “Evil Raven” and the witches themselves.
Besides Zephy and Minessa we also get to see more witches, including Karikaro, Laponetto, and Charlotta. We see battles against giant dragons, even including some coming out of Nihon Falcom games as part of a cooperation crossover.
