Japan has pretty bizarre traditions and laws about censorship of violence, and so terror games often get significant cuts. Repeating the initiative accepted for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the Japanese launch of Resident Evil 2 will comprise two unique versions with various quantities of violence.
The typical version, branded Biohazard RE: 2 will have a CERO D evaluation, which means suitable for two years olds. The “adult” variant, will be branded Biohazard RE: 2 Z Version. The name only reflects the fact that this edition will have a more CERO Z score, which means 18+.
Pre-orders will begin on August 10th and both versions will launch on January 25th exactly like in the west to PS4, Xbox One, also PC. Only the PS4 versions will get a physical release locally, and in the gallery below you can view the two different covers.
The Collector’s Edition will probably be similar to the one announced for the west with the difference that the soundtrack will be on an actual CD instead of digital. In the gallery, then you might also take a better look at the statue of Chris Redfield which is included.
Last, but not least, those that pre-order will get the Samurai Edge Chris and Jill version guns.
