Extensive Layoffs Reported at Visual Novel Publisher Sekai Project

Today word about mass layoffs at the visual novel publisher Sekai Project started surfacing on social media via Project Manager Josh Kaplan and New Manager Frances Delgado.

According to the tweets, the whole Los Angeles office has been abruptly let go today. There’s currently no information on if the same occurred to remote workers.

Further remarks contributed on the Visual Novel.info discord said the layoffs were suddenly communicated during a staff meeting, and no specific reason was given to the employees affected.

More info offered from Sekai Project’s Audi Sorlie on Resetera cites there is still staff working in the publisher, and no project was canceled for now. He’s still at work on the recently-announced Sekai Games console tag and on Tokyo Chronos.

Lately Sekai Project made quite a few statements at Anime Expo.

We achieved to Sekai Project to get a clarification about the situation and also in the future of this publisher. We’ll keep you posted when we hear something relevant.
